My Blog

Mrs Fingal Felts

Welcome to  my  latest adventure .... sharing   my journey with  FELT through  a blog !   The beginning of a whole new  chapter  for me and one I hope proves fun .
I might even  become  more computer literate ...........
Here in the  inspiring landscape of   Torridon,  under  our  umbrella business CROFT 7  , Les &  I  produce , Artwork , Stories, Willows, Food  and Felt.
The latter   being the  domain  of Mrs Fingal
( aka Sheila )........
who has been making felt for over  20 years . So this will be  a collection of ancient and modern  musings & images.
Last week  was most productive  , with  much sorting & combing of  fleece .
Florries made   from Hebridean , Blackface Mule  & some gorgeous soft grey Blackface X  , some smaller commissions, thank you folks  , & then  more hebridean , felted hard   for  wellie boot insoles .
So have begun this week on a gentler  note  , as has the weather ,  but desk bound to clear  out some of the intray , before  heading back to  the felting shed tomorrow.

The first success   I ever  had with  felt ( all those moons ago ..) resulted  in an  abstract  feltscape  of a place  close to my heart .  Sometimes   the pictures   are more  pictorial  & more reliant on a  photographic image ..... . so  much out there to inspire  , on dreich & difficult days( my camera is never far away) .  Translating the image  in to a workable  felt is then the next  challenge !!

beginnings of a feltscape  ......

                                                                     Northton   Sunset

Not much time for  pictorial work this week as I prepare  for  Poolewe Christmas Market 5 Dec -   look forward to seeing some  of you there      .
